Our junior hurlers had their first outing of the year with a challenge match against St. Mary’s on Sunday morning. Our next Intermediate hurling match is on Wednesday night, May 29, against Newport in Holycross. The Club would like to wish ‘all the best’ to three of its dedicated players who are heading abroad. Joe McEniry, Liam Meehan and Eddie Kendrick are heading off next week, and they are a huge loss to the Cahir Club as well as to their families and their community.
Plans for the annual field day are well advanced and the highlight will be the pig racing! Pigs are in training and are going well. Other events on the day will be pig roasting on a spit, hurling and football blitzes, music, teas, side shows and novelty events.
Congratulations to Liam Casey, Niall Mckenna, Mikey O’Connor and Paddy O’Flaherty (selector) and the Tipperary Minor Footballers on their victory over Cork in the Munster semi-final. They now play Kerry in the Munster Final.
Tickets for the County draw are going well, and we thank all the people who have renewed their membership and those who have joined for the first time. The first draw will be held on May 31 so there is time to join.
Congratulations to local man Tommy O’Donnell who was selected as Munster Rugby senior player of the year and who has also been called up to the Irish squad for the summer tour.
