Tipp shock Kerry in Munster Minor Football semi-final

Tipperary 2-12 Cork 3-8

Tipperary’s Minor Footballers caused a major upset in the Munster Minor Football semi-final on Wednesday night when they beat Kerry by a point.

The victory was all the more remarkable because they were 11 points down in the first half and 10 points behind at half-time, when the score stood at 3-6 to 0-5.

A goal from Michael Quinlivan 7 minutes into the second half breathed new life into the Tipp challenge and substitute Colman Kennedy equalised with a great goal two minutes from the end of normal time.

Extra time looked on the cards but Liam McGrath, a cousin of county senior hurling star Noel, sealed the Tipperary win with a point in the sixth minute of stoppage time.

They will now meet Cork (who beat Clare in the other semi-final by 1-16 to 0-6) in the final, which will be the curtain-raiser to the senior final on July 3.
