Kilsheelan-Kilcash’s performance deserved better than a 17 points 2-17 to 0-6 drubbing by Loughmore-Castleiney in the Clean Ireland Co SFC at Boherlahan on Saturday.

But there was no question about the superiority of the Mid men who clinched their place in the quarter-final by topping their group courtesy of this win.

They led 1-11 to 0-3 at half time and there was no way back for South men.

Noel McGrath was calling the shots for Loughmore from midfield. Miceal Webster, John McGrath, Liam McGrath, Evan Sweeney, and David Kennedy all got on the scoresheet in the first half as Kilsheelan struggled to make an impact in front of goal.

Kilsheelan also lost the second half 0-3 to 1-6 and had goalkeeper John Smyth to thank for twice denying Tommy Maher likely goals

their consolation as they finish runners-up in the group is a place in the round before the county quarter-final. However, they know they can do much better and the challenge for manager David Power and his charges now is to regroup and focus on their next outing.

Thomas Ryan, Willie Ryan, Patrick Larkin, Eoghain Ryan, James Geraghty, and Michael McHugh worked very hard to stem the tide.
