Kickhams open campaign with impressive win

Gleeson Concrete Junior A Hurling Championship

Gleeson Concrete Junior A Hurling Championship

Kickhams 4-13 Clonoulty-Rossmore 1-3

Knockavilla/Donaskeigh Kickhams opened their account in this Gleeson Concrete junior ‘A’ hurling championship in devastating fashion when overcoming Clonoulty/Rossmore in the opening round, which was played at Annacarty on Saturday evening last.

This junior ‘A’ hurling championship, which features three teams this year, the third being Emly, will see each team play each other twice.

Clonoulty won the toss and elected to play with the aid of the elements but Kickhams were quickly off the mark with an early goal and had the better of the exchanges during the opening half.

Clonoulty had a goal on the stroke of half-time and this gave a semblance of evenness to the encounter as Kickhams led by 1-5 to 1-2.

There was only one-way traffic in the second-half as Kickhams took complete control with goals in the 4th, 14th and 17th minutes to compile a comprehensive nineteen points victory in the end. The final scoreline read 4-13 to 1-3.

Kickhams will be happy with this start to their campaign while Clonoulty have much to ponder before their next engagement.
