SLIEVENAMON GOLF CLUB
Our wonderful greenkeeper heads for pastures new
The big news for the week, though, is the announcement that Paul Kenny, our much respected Headgreenkeeper, will be leaving us in a week to take up a position at Hogs Head Golf Club in Waterville. This is a huge opportunity for Paul and we wish him the very best, while obviously being very sad to see him leave the Slievenamon family.
At a presentation on Saturday last, March 9, Captain Mark Dillon and Lady Captain Paula Spillane made a presentation to Paul on behalf of the members to recognise his unique contribution to the club and express their gratitude for all his hard work over many years at the club.
The poor weather has been so frustrating for golfers
A small bit of competition news this week - the weather has not been cooperating at all, which makes the life of a golfer a little frustrating, to say the least! But then as the great Bobby Jones said “Golf is the closest game to the game we call life. You get bad breaks from good shots; you get good breaks from bad shots, but you have to play the ball where it lies”
John comes out on top.
Our Gents played a Stableford Singles Competition on 2-3 March which was won by John Doherty on 37 points. 2nd was Andrew Kelleher on 37 points while Michael O’Donnell took Gross on 35 points.
