King Cormacs set eyes on West Senior Semi Final spot

Senior Hurling

Senior Hurling

Last weekend saw Cashel take on hotly fancied Clonoulty in round four of the championship. Clonoulty were comfortable 14 point winners and look strong contenders for West honours once again. For Cashel the display was good at times but played second fiddle to a superior opposition. Cashel were guilty however of wasting several chances from play and placed balls and with one eye on the eagerly awaited clash with Cappa this weekend, should these shortcomings be ironed out then the team can hold every chance in this contest. Factor in the return from injuries of one or two key players and the options available to the selectors will also be welcomed. The game is fixed for Dundrum on Sunday next, throw in 3pm, so all Cashel Hurling enthusiasts are asked to come along and support the team. Victory in this game would send the winner into the West Senior Semi Final and in doing so avoiding the dreaded slippery slope into Relegation territory.

Minor B Football

Our minors are into the West Semi final after easily disposing of a young Cappawhite team in Leahy park on the Wednesday evening last. The lads will now play Rockwell/Rosegreen on Wednesday, May 15, with time and venue to be confirmed.

Junior B Hurling

Round one of the West Junior B Hurling championship gets underway this weekend and Cashel lock horns with rivals Rosegreen. The game is fixed for New Inn at 7pm, on Sunday.

Last weekend saw our Juveniles very busy. On Saturday, Boharlahan, Mullinahone visited Leahy Park for Hurling challenges at U6 and U8 level. A good dry day saw plenty of spectators on hand to witness some fine hurling from the stars of the future. The highlights a thrilling draw in the U.8 clash between Cashel and Boharlahan, a game that had everything. Our U10s made the trip to Dr. Morris Park for a county blitz and performed very well over three games. We came away with three victories over Boharlahan, Moyne Templetouhy and Loughmore Castleiney. Well done to the players on a good days work.

It was then onto Sunday and the Cashel King Cormacs Juvenile club welcomed Skerries GAA club to Leahy Park, For U10 and 12s challenge games in both Hurling and Football. Skerries arrived in numbers; bring over sixty children to take part throughout the busy day. The games were all competitive and the supporters in attendance enjoyed the entertainment. Overall both club enjoyed good wins and the results were evenly shared throughout the day. A special thanks to the ladies for preparing the food and refreshments to all the children and adults, this was greatly appreciated within our own club and indeed by the visiting club.
