On Wednesday last our Minors got their championship off to a winning start against Kilsheelan Gaels, which is the combination of Kilsheelan/Kilcash and Newcastle. The match was very close until we scored a goal in the 28th minute. We pulled away in the second half to run out comfortable winners. We are awaiting our round 2 fixture vs St Marys.
In Junior hurling Newcastle beat Fethard last Friday which means that if we beat Skeheenarinky we top our group but if we lose, we’re out. We are still awaiting the fixture for our final group game against Skeheenarinky but it is expected to be played in the near future.
Our u16s take on Ballybacon/Grange in Goatenbridge next Monday at 7pm.
Our u14 game vs Moyle Rovers was postponed last Friday. However we did play a tough challenge game vs Clerihan. Losing by 12 points at half-time, it looked as if our boys would be beaten but after a great second half fightback we went on to win by 4 points.
Our u14s travel to Cahir this Thursday.
Our u8s and 9s travelled to Piltown on Saturday last where we took on Piltown and Dublin kingpins Kilmacud Crokes in a number of games. Our boys played well and managed to win all games. We’d like to thank Piltown for hosting this blitz and for the refreshments received in the Complex afterwards.
