It’s a busy weekend ahead in the Clean Ireland Recyling County Senior Football Championship with no less than seven ties down for decision on Saturday.
In Group 1 Galtee Rovers/St Pecaun’s take on Cahir. The game is fixed for Leahy Park, Cashel with a 6 pm throw-in. Sean Lonerganis in charge. This is the first game of a double-bill with Killenaule and Aherlow Gaels to follow at 7.30 pm.
Also in Group 1 Clonmel Commercials and Clonmel Og will meet at Monroe at 7.30 pm. In this local derby the county champions Commercials will be expected to pick up full points. Paddy Russell is the man in the middle.
In Group 2 Killenaule oppose Aherlow Gaels in Leahy Park, Cashel. The throw-in for this tie is 7.30 pm with Derek O’Mahoney officiating. Last year’s South champions Killenaule would be fanciedby many to prevail but the West side, county champions in 2010, are always difficult to beat.
There are two games down for decision in Group 3 on Saturday evening.
At Littleton, Loughmore/ Castleiney will entertain Mullinahone and anything bar a win for the Mid Tipp team would be a huge surprise. Throw-in at Littleton will be at 7.30 with Brian Tyrrell in charge.
At New Inn also at 7.30 pm, Moycarkey/Borris and Kilsheelan/Kilcash clash. This game will be refereed by Donal Cahill.
Group 4 also has two games to be decided.
Fethard and Ardfinnan meet in Monroe at 6 pm with David Grogan to referee. This is the first game of a double-bill with the local derby of Clonmel Commercials and Clonmel Og starting at 7.30 pm.
Perhaps the tie of the day will take place at Kickham Park in Thurles, a repeat of the 2011 county final, between Moyle Rovers and Thomas MacDonaghs. Throw-in at the Thurles venue is at 7.30 pm.
