Lattin Cullen Gaels beat a poor Ballinahinch outfit in the County IHC quarter final at Dundrum.

Lattin Cullen Gaels beat a poor Ballinahinch outfit in the County IHC quarter final at Dundrum.

The winning margin did not flatter Lattin Cullen Gaels and a man of the match contribution from Cathal Dillon and his impeccable free taking was the main talking point after this game.

Lattin Cullen Gaels replied to two early Ballinahinch points with three points, one from Barry Grogan and two from Cathal Dillon. John Foley levelled for the North Tipp side but Cathal Dillon and Cathal O’Shea put the Gaels into a two point lead. Donnacha McGrath pointed to leave the minimum between the sides again. Dillon landed another two pointed frees for the Gaels and Sean Sheehy replied for Ballinahinch who did not raise aother flag until eighteen minutes into the second half.

Lattin Cullen Gaels half back line of Aidan Kiely, Thomas Hanley and Shane Russell was completely on top and the side added another three points to leave them ahead 0-10 to 0-5 at the interval and looking full value for their five points advantage.

Cathal Dillon added four points for Lattin Cullen Gaels in the second half and when Cormac McGrath parried a shot from Barry Grogan, Cathal O’Shea was on hand to send the rebound to the net to make it 1-14 to 0-5. Then John Foley goaled and Shane McGrath added a point to leave the West side ahead 1-14 to 1-6 with ten minutes remaining. John Condon and Dillon added further points before a clearance from Laurence Coskeran set up Cathal Dillon for a goal.
