Tipperary 1-12 Offaly 0-10

Tipperary enjoyed a five-point win over Offaly in the first round of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship qualifiers at Semple Stadium on Saturday evening.

They are now setting their sights on Wexford, whom they meet in round 2, a match for which they will also have home advantage.

Tipp led by 1-5 to 0-6 at half-time, the goal coming from Peter Acheson in the 17th minute.

Despite missing a penalty in first half injury-time, when Michael Quinlivan’s penalty was saved by Offaly goalie Alan Mulhall, they were always the better team and fully deserved their victory.
