Aherlow 7-11 Moycarkey 0-9
New Inn was the venue for the replay of the Intermediate Ladies Football County Semi-Final between Aherlow and Moycarkey, six days after the initial fixture where the sides finished level.
This time there there was no doubt about the score line as Aherlow romped to a 7-11 to 1-9 victory.
A much stronger Aherlow team started very strongly with quick scores from Libby Grogan,Edel Hanly, Anne Marie Fahey and Claire Mullins.
Moycarkey took longer to settle but when they did they put the Aherlow defence under a lot of pressure. However great defending by Aherlow’s Rachel Kennelly at full-back and Grainne Wade at centre-back limited Moycarkey’s forwards to 5 points in the first half, and at half-time Aherlow led 4-7 to 0-5.
Moycarkey attacked strongly at the start of the second half but again brilliant defending by Brid and Marie Condon made sure Aherlow did not concede too many scores.
Aherlow got a grip of the game at midfield, where Blathinid Waters was in control and ably assisted by Siobhan Condon. Two goals by Edel Hanly and Claire Mullins made sure this game was over with about 10 minutes to go.
