The Ladies football club had a very enjoyable medal presentation last Sunday evening in Monroe.Chairman Pat Fahey got proceedings underway and thanked all involved in making 2012 such a succesful year Medals were presented to Under 12s.14s,Minor,and Junior winning teams.Presentations were made to the players by County Chairman Tommy Campbell and Declan Browne . Special mention to Michelle McMeel,Shania Dowling,Evrena Everard,Bronagh McGrath who each received three county medals (under 14,Minor,Junior) ,surely a Club record.
Training for under 16 ,Junior and senior teams begins this weekend and we are expecting a full and committed turnout.Congratulations to Sarah Everard who was a member of the Munster Post primary Schools team who retained their inetrprovincal crown in Mullingar last Saturday,defeating Connaught in the final..Comiserations to our club representatives Gillian O’Brien,Bairbre Ryan,Niamh Lonergan and Katie Lynn who were memebers of the narrowly defeated Tippeary IntermediateTeam who were narrowerly defaeated by Waterford in the Jim Kennedy Cup Final last Sunday. Also to Club representatives involved in the Team management Sean O’Donovan and Kay Lyons. The club are holding a meeting this Thursday (January 31s) at 8.00 in Monroe .All parents of under 8s are invited and welcome to attend.
The Camogie Club held its first meeting of the new year. Plans were discussed for the forthcoming year. Training begins on Friday February 1st at 5.30 pm indoors at Monroe for under 8s,10s and 12s.Camogie is a wonderful game for girls. The earlier they start the better,so come along and give it a try. Registration evening will be held the following Friday. Registration for the year is €20. All welcome especially new members. Hurleys and Helmets can be ordered through the primary schools at significantly reduced prices and these must be ordered in the next few weeks.
