Under 13 D Camogie

Poulacapple 2-0 Ayle 0-1

Referee: Mark Generry

Poulacapple created history by winning their first ever county hurling title on their first visit to the Field of Legends, Semple Stadium. They overcame a very courageous and spirited Ayle NS team, who were attempting to secure a historic double for their school. In the first half neither team was able to score that elusive goal that would have put distance between the teams in an otherwise hugely entertaining opening half. With defences on top, Órnaith Hennessy eventually broke the deadlock with an excellent point after a long solo run through the Poulacapple defence. A goal was always going to prove decisive and when Grace Hogan netted for Poulacapple, the writing was on the wall for a gallant Ayle team. Maggie Welland sent Poulacapple into dreamland with another wonderful goal before the end to secure a historic first county title for her school. Órnaith Hennessy of Ayle and Margaret Foley, Poulacapple are two players we are certain to hear plenty about in the future.
