A very much under-strength Mullinahone lost to JK Brackens 0-15 to 1-6 in the County SFC at Templetuohy on Saturday

Brackens raced into an early three point lead from Cathal Scully, Darren Owens and Alan O’Riordan.

Mullinahone, who only regained their senior status this year, were finding the opening minutes tough going thanks to some impressive Brackens off the ball running that was paying dividends for their forwards.

Centre back John Dunne added a fourth but ten more minutes passed before either side managed to score again.

Brackens added three further unanswered points that left them with a seven points lead.

Mullinahone keep the game going as a contest with two late points before the interval but Brackens began the second half in similar fashion to the way they started the first as they scored two early points thanks to Brendan Guidera and inter-county star Lorcan Egan.

Mullinahone responded well as they created and finished to fine points of their own to eat into JK’s commanding lead.

Both sides then exchanged points as Mullinahone were still hanging in the game with the industrious Kevin Walzer being a constant threat upfront.

However Brackens hit three more points without reply.

Mullinahone hit back with a Kevin Bolger goal but it wasn’t enough to trouble a dominant Brackens.
