St. Michael’s of Tipperary Town will host the holders in FAI Junior Cup semi final to be played in Clonmel next month.
Tipperary’s standard bearers St Michael’s reward for winning through to the semi-finals of this year’s FAI Junior Cup, is a draw against the current holders and favourites to retain their title Sheriff YC, of Dublin.
The draw was made last Sunday and the Saints can take some solace from the fact that the game is scheduled to be played in Clonmel on the second weekend of April, which will ensure a huge support from both their own fans and well-wishers around the rest of the soccer community in Tipperary.
Their opponents are the cream of Irish junior soccer but in the form that St Michaels are in, they will certainly fear no one, and will be quietly confident of finally closing that forty year gap since their own and only win in this competition, in 1974.
