So how could it possibly happen – a team so far ahead in possession lose control of a game for a 15 minute period and, in the process, lose their semi-final spot in the FAI Youth Cup? Such was the case with a rampant Cahir Park youth team on Saturday who had 70% of the first-half possession but still only led by a solitary goal at the break.

This fact they were to rue by game end and after some very wayward second-half finishing from the hosts, it was Castle Lyons’ Castle view Celtic who marched on for a home tilt against Castlebar or Letterkenny.

Cahir Park AFC: Niall Murphy, Mikey O’Connor, Aaron Murphy, John O’Connor, Cormac Looby, Barry Cooney, Ian Flannery, Niall McKenna, Gerry Cronin, Liam Casey, Darren McGrath. Subs: David Finnane for Barry Cooney, Anthony Condon for Ian Flennery, Paddy Kennelly, Kevin Griffin, William Dunne, Woijcek Cymerys, Joey Doyle, Stephen Duggan.
