FAI Junior Cup 2nd Round
NENAGH CELTIC 1 BANSHA CELTIC 2
First Division Bansha Celtic produced a major upset in the FAI Junior Cup Second Round when they came from behind to eliminate North Tipperary and District League high-flyers Nenagh Celtic by the odd goal in three at the VEC Grounds, Nenagh last Sunday.
Bansha, struggling to make an impact this campaign, weren’t expected to get anything from their trip to Nenagh and it looked like everything was going to plan when Michael Hynes gave Nenagh the lead just before the break.
However Bansha Celtic put their poor league form behind them as they took the game to Nenagh and ten minutes after the re-start they restored parity when a good move down the left flank ended with Niall Daly scoring from 10 yards. With Nenagh knocked back on their heels Bansha snatched an unlikely victory when Shane Egan finished off a flowing move that unhinged the Nenagh rearguard with ten minutes remaining. Bansha then weathered the storm to hold on for giant-killing victory.
