Tipperary hurlers win Waterford Crystal Cup

Tipperary 1-21 Clare 2-12

Tipperary won the Waterford Crystal Senior Hurling Cup for the first time in four years when they beat Clare by 6 points in Sunday’s final at Sixmilebridge.

Tipp were the better team in the first half and a Brian O’Meara goal helped them to lead at the break by 1-12 to 1-7.

Clare came much more into the picture in the second half and Daire Keane’s goal after 17 minutes left just a point between the sides.

However Tipp, boosted by experienced substitutes Eoin Kelly, John O’Brien and Shane McGrath, finished the stronger and deserved their victory.
