FAI Junior Cup 2nd Round
CASHEL TOWN 4 CAHIR PARK 0
The clinical finishing of Cashel Town secured an FAI Junior Cup 2nd Round victory when they defeated fellow Premier League side Cahir Park at a windswept Palmers Hill, Cashel last Sunday.
Playing into a strong wind in the first half, Cashel began strongly without creating too many clear cut chances but that changed after 22 minutes when Tony Hewitt, after great work down the wing, hit a great cross to the back post that was well finished by the inrushing Andrew Flynn. Cashel hit the post and created a number of other chances before they added the second on the stroke of half time when a great run from James Harding down the right was well finished by Henry Flynn.
The second half began slowly but on the hour mark James Harding hit a low drive from the edge of the box to make it 3-0. The scoring was completed on 72 minutes when Henry Flynn added his second and Cashel’s fourth with a close range finish following a goalmouth scramble.
