Aherlow Gaels had little difficulty in overcoming Cashel King Cormacs in the losers group of the McGrath Oil under-21 A football championship at Leahy Park, Cashel on Sunday afternoon.
They now play Clonoulty-Rossmore in the loser’s group final.
Cashel had the breeze in their favour in the first half but made little use of it, scoring only three points.
Aherlow Gaels were helped by a penalty and this gave them a 1-4 to 0-3 lead at the interval.
Aherlow Gaels dominated the second half and while they didn’t get the score they might have expected they were well on top by 2-10 to 0-3 at the final whistle.

Eire Og into semi-final
Eire Óg 1-11 Kickhams 1-6
Eire Óg defeated Kickhams by 1-11 to 1-6 in the losers group of the McGrath Oil Under-21 B football championship at Bansha on Sunday afternoon and so claimed a semi-final place in the competition proper.
This was a good game of football with the sides evenly matched for long periods of the first half. The goals came just before half-time, with Dinny Crosse getting Eire Óg’s from the penalty spot to give his side the lead by 1-3 to 1-2 at the interval.
Kickhams got the first couple of scores on the resumption but gradually Eire Óg took over and were very much in control at the final whistle, when they led by 1-11 to 1-6.
