Woodlawn Sportslink (Dublin) 2 Clonmel Town 5
Clonmel Town’s Youth’s reached the last eight of the FAI Youth Cup with an excellent win in Dublin on Sunday, to fly the flag for Youth football in Tipperary
Clonmel Town are bidding to emulate the win by North Tipperary side Nenagh AFC in last year’s competition.
The Clonmel side were rocked as early as the third minute when the Dublin side opened the scoring, but only four minutes later Dean Clark had Town level.
They then took the lead 12 minutes before the break with a goal from Daire Egan, but they conceded a second goal right on the stroke of half time, to see the teams go into the break level.
The second half belonged to the visitors however, and goals in the 59th and 69th minutes from Jack Harney and a second from Egan, put them comfortably in control of the game.
A goal by Ryan Lambe in the final minute was simply icing on the cake, and gave the Clonmel Town lads a huge boost to kick on and win this prestigious competition over the next month or so.
