Clonmel Og girls battle bravely

Clonmel Og

Clonmel Og

Our U-14 girls played their first championship match on Saturday evening against Ardfinnan. The girls played really well, fighting hard and scoring some excellent points and goals. Unfortunately luck was not on our side on the day; however the girls have learned a lot from this match and are looking forward to their next match against Ballyporeen.

Team: Angie Antonio, Éire Ryan, Abbie Donoghue, Hayley Carroll, Katelin McGrath (Capt), Weronika Studencka, Lauren O’Connell, Emma Murphy, Erin Ryan, Sophie Mc Ardle, Leigh O’ Driscoll, Eni Braimoh, Chloe O’Connell, Kaci Ryan, Caitlin Mc Vicker, Ally Gavin, Zoe Connolly, Katie O’Meara, Kinga Doman.

Kudos to our U12 Div 4 footballers who defeated Grangemockler in the South Championship in Ned Hall Park on Sunday. It was a real ding dong match and the Ogs prevailed thanks to a late winner. Well done boys. Also, our U16s had a victory over Commercials in Ned Hall Park on Monday last.

Our U10s gave a great display in Fethard at a blitz on Saturday morning. We played games against Moyle Rovers, Carrick Swans, Kilsheelan & Fethard. Thank you to Fethard for the invitation!

We had an excellent attendance at the The Child Welfare & Protection in Sport Workshop organised by Valerie McCarthy (Child Protection Officer) in the Social Centre on Friday night. A big thank you to course tutor Ann Fleming, and to all the coaches who turned out and gave their time. It was certainly a worthwhile exercise and this course will be repeated at a later date.

Our deepest condolences to the Walsh family on the death of Jimmy Walsh last Monday. Jimmy was uncle of Noel, Pakie, & Catherine O’ Meara, and our thoughts are with all his family.

At long last a fixture for our senior footballers. We open our County Championship campaign against Cahir on Friday 10th May at 19.30 in Ballylooby. Preparations have been going well and we wish all concerned the very best of luck.
