County golf titles for Ian Halpin and Aaron Ryan

At sunny Slievenamon yesterday (Thursday) the County Tipperary Boys Golf Championships took place in fabulous conditions. Only 12 months ago these championships had to be re-scheduled a couple of times due to a horrible summer.

At sunny Slievenamon yesterday (Thursday) the County Tipperary Boys Golf Championships took place in fabulous conditions. Only 12 months ago these championships had to be re-scheduled a couple of times due to a horrible summer.

The under 13 competition was won by Ian Halpin of Cahir Park who just shaded it on a countback from Aaron Kiely of the home club.

In the under 15 event Aaron Ryan, a five handicapped from Thurles, had all of four shots to spare over Seamus Bourke of Carrick-on-Suir

The prizewinners in each catergory were:

Co. Tipperary u-13 Boys at Slievenamon:

1st Ian Halpin (Cahir Park) 39 pts;

2nd Aaron Kiely (Slievenamon) 39 pts;

3rd Lee Treacy (Carrick) 38 pts;

Gross Darragh Lynch (Slievenamon) 26 pts;

Best over 28, Sean Culbert (Ballykisteen) 49 pts.

Co. Tipperary U-15 Boys at Slievenamon:

1st Aaron Ryan 5 (Thurles) 72;

2nd Seamus Bourke 9 (Carrick) 76;

3rd Mark Healy 7 (Bandon) 77;

1st nett Rowan O’Neill 18 (Slievenamon) 62;

2nd nett Aaron Aylward 16 (Clonmel) 64.
