TIPPERARY manager Liam Cahill has vowed that his players will be ready for an Electric Ireland Munster minor hurling championship semi-final play off against Clare or Kerry.
Clare are naturally tipped to provide the opposition and that would see Tipp making the trip to Ennis.
Cahill admitted that he knew Tipp would be up against it in Limerick last Thursday night but he insisted that players and management alike will learn from the experience.
He said: “The game for the spectators was quite poor and our energy levels seemed to be very low. We learned a lot as players and management about where we need to go and what we need to work on to progress in the championship.”
Waterford achieved All-Ireland success via the back door in 2013 and Cahill nodded: “I’d hope we’ve learned a lot. Even though Limerick won the game comprehensively finishing up, they should have had us put away before half-time.
“We were very disappointed at half-time – we looked very moderate in the simplest of things, from simple offload of the ball to a man’s hand to getting caught in possession, stuff that shouldn’t be happening. These boys are my responsibility and I take full responsibility for that. We have a lot of work to do on the training ground.”
Former All Star Cahill added: “Eight of them are underage again next year and we have three of last year’s panel. Minors are vulnerable – they can turn up some days and be exceptionally good and other days things can go against them. It’s my first time involved at that particular level and tonight has done me no harm either in relation to learning. The field will get it right – that’s where it has to happen. If it happens there it will come out in Ennis on the day of the match.”
