4 Munster Combined Event Medals for Club

4 Munster Combined Event Medals for Club

The Club had another busy weekend of athletics with 8 of our juveniles taking part in the Munster Juvenile Indoor Combined Events Championships in Nenagh Indoor Stadium on Saturday 18th January. It was a highly successful day with 4 medals for our athletes , 2 gold, 1 silver & 1 bronze, lots of pbs & 2 new Munster records.

Dillon Ryan (Boys U/12), Adam O’Dwyer (Boys U/13), Jack Ryan (Boys U/14), David Ryan & Jack Fallon (Boys U/15), Daniel & Declan Ryan (Boys U/16) & Anna Ryan (Girls U/13) all represented the Club on the day, each taking part in 5 events (60mH, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot Putt & 800m). There were gold medal wins for National Indoor Champions, Daniel & David Ryan in the Boys U/16 & U/15 competitions with silver for Jack Fallon in the Boys U/15 competition & bronze for Jack Ryan in the Boys U/14 competition. Declan Ryan finished 4th in the Boys U/16 competition, Dillon Ryan was 6th in the Boys U/12 competition, Anna Ryan was 6th in the Girls U/13 competition & Adam O’Dwyer competed very well in the Boys U/13 competition.

Daniel Ryan was in flying form setting two new Champion Best Performances (“CBP”) on the day in the Boys U/16 60mH when he ran 8.51 to break the existing record of 8.83 set by Michael Quilligan, Nenagh Olympic A.C. in 2012. He also recorded another CBP in the Long Jump with his leap of 6.55m to break Sam Healy’s record of 6.20m set in 2011. His brother David also recorded a huge pb in the Boys U/15 Long Jump leaping out to 5.89m increasing his previous pb by 55cm. Jack Ryan finished 12th in National Indoor Combined Events last weekend so it was great to see him returning to form, increasing all his scores from last week & making a podium finish with a bronze medal. Jack Fallon just missed out on a national medal last weekend so it was also great to see him on the podium with a silver medal in the Boys U/15 competition & recording some more pbs in the process. Our younger athletes also recorded pbs in some of their events & thoroughly enjoyed the whole competition. It was great to see such strong representation for the Club in the Combined Events. Congratulations to all 8 athletes on such great results.

Well done to Joe Moloney, the Club’s only representative at the Munster Masters Indoor Championships in Nenagh Indoor Stadium on Sunday 19th January. Amid a very high standard of competition, Joe won double bronze in the O/60 Men’s Shot Putt (8.06m) & Weight for Distance (4.45m). Congrats Joe on such great results.
