WILLIAM Maher was naturally pleased after his Tipperary side advanced to the Electric Ireland All-Ireland minor hurling championship final on September 9.
“Semi finals are there to be won and thank God we won the match there. “Yeah, we’re all very, very happy,” said Maher afterwards as he spoke to reporters deep in the bowels of the Cusack Stand.
But Maher insisted that Tipp will meet what he considers to be the best minor team in the country, Dublin, in the All-Ireland final.
Maher, a personal friend of Dublin manager Shay Boland, explained: “Shay’s a fine man, fine manager, fine backroom team with him. THE best tea m we’ve plaeyd this year. Things worked very well today but we have a lot of work to do for three weeks to get ready for Dublin. They are the form team – we’ve played them on the challenge match circuit and we know we’re under pressure.” See this weeks Tipperary Star for full report.
