On a day when the Tipperary senior hurling team suffered its worst championship humiliation since the late 1800s, there was at least some comfort for devastated Premier County fans as they left Croke Park last Sunday evening.
Because for the first time since 2007, Tipperary will contest an Electric Ireland All-Ireland minor hurling championship final on September 9.
It will be a special day for Ballingarry native William Maher as he attempts to join a select band who have won All-Ireland minor medals as a player and manager.
In 1996, Maher was captain of the Tipp team that defeated Galway in the final and 16 years on, he will lead a talented bunch of players out for a date with Dublin and destiny at GAA HQ.
