The scoreline tells the tale.
St Patrick's were completely outgunned by Cork kingpins Meelin in the Munster club junior hurling championship final at Mallow last Sunday, and their fate was sealed after just 20 minutes had elapsed in what was never a true contest.
Meelin had moved into a commanding lead, 2-7 to 0-3, at that stage, and such had been their superiority in all sectors, it was obvious the extent of their winning margin was the only issue to be resolved
St Patrick's did manage to pull two points back, courtesy of Tony O'Brien from placed balls, before Meelin grabbed their third goal which put paid to any remote hopes of a comeback by the Tipp standard-bearers.
Turning over 3-12 to 0-5 in arrears, St Patrick's had nothing more than pride to play for in the second half, and, while they never dropped their heads, their torment continued as Meelin added two more goals entering the last quarter.
