Thurles Town F C

Thurles Town made a 2nd round exit from the Ricky Fogarty Cup with a 4-1 defeat away to Nenagh Celtic on Sunday last. The score line do not do justice to a brave performance from an under strength Town side.

In a lively opening half Celtic went ahead in the 20th minute with a close range effort well taken, Town responded well but failed to equalise before they break. Celtic increased their lead early in the second half when, thanks to a wicked deflection the ball flew into the back of the net. Town reduced arrears when Tom Tirney with a fine finish made it 2-1 with 25 minutes left to play. Town pressing forward in search of an equaliser were caught with swift counter attacking that saw Celtic finish strongly with 2 late goals.

On Sunday next Thurles Town are home to Nenagh Celtic in a League game with a 2pm kick-off.

Players are requested to report to the Greyhound Stadium at 1pm.
