INTERMEDIATE County FINAL

INTERMEDIATE County FINAL

EIRE OG ANNACARTY 2.07 BORRIS-ILEIGH 0.11

In a very entertaining Intermediate final in the camogie grounds on sunday Eire Og Annacarty (beaten finalists last year) claimed a well deserved win against a fancied borris-ileigh team.A bright start by annacarty saw them take an early lead but Borriss-ileigh came back strong and almost scored the first goal when moira Dooley looked certain to score but a great hook prevented the score.Cainnait Walsh was keeping the Annacarty girls in the lead with her frees when Karen Fox broke through the Borris-ileigh defence to score a fine goal to put Annacarty in the driving seat. After the break Borriss-Ileigh put great pressure on the Annacarty defence with scores from Nicole Walsh and Moira Dooley and were only a point behind in the final ten minutes.however a point from Annacarty captain Siobhan O’neill and a scrambled goal by Aoife Ryan relieved the pressure .Borris-Ileigh came back with a couple of frees from Nicole Walsh but it was not enough and Eire Og ran out deserving winners.
