Co J. H. A Quarter-Final
Moycarkey-Borris 2-15 Moneygall 0-8
Another impressive showing from Md champions, Moycarkey-Borris who outclassed a determined Moneygall at Templemore on Saturday to claim their place in the county semi-final of the junior A hurling championship.
The merit of this Moycarkey win was never in question in “a trap to line” victory which confirmed the county title potential shown in the Mid final success against Loughmore-Castleiney. Once again, a powerful display by their halfback line, with Pat Molloy outstanding at centre halfback, ably assisted by Gary O Connell and Gerry McGuire, was the platform from which they launched so many productive assaults on the Moneygall lines.
Four points were on the board by the 12th minute to Moneygall’s single score but the North runners up began to find their feet and were only one point adrift at the 20th minute, John and Donal Doughan, Brian Teehan and Tom Tuohy their marksman. Willie Dempsey(2), Gary O Connell, Rory O Regan and Jamie Fanning got the Moycarkey points in an opening period which was marked by some turbulent exchanges.
