The Canon Hayes National Sports Awards are taking place on Sunday December 22nd this year.
The later than usual date is to ensure availability of the nominees for the event.
As most people know these Awards were introduced by the Canon Hayes Recreation Centre in 1996 to recognise outstanding sporting achievement on a local, county, national and international basis. Recognised as being one of the key events yearly in the sporting calendar, the Awards event is one of the major sporting/social occasions of the year. Many of the top names in sport have been recognised by the Awards Committee over the years and it is expected that this year will be no exception with some of the leading names in Irish sport certain to attend. As in other years there will be a shortlist of nominees for the Local, County, and National Awards and there will also be the announcement of the Outstanding Achievement Award and the Mick Doyle Golden Memory Award. There will also be a shortlist of nominees for the Volunteer in Sport Award, which is promoted by South Tipperary Sports Partnership. In next weeks issue we will announce all the nominees in the various categories. In the meantime please reserve Sunday December 22nd at Ballykisteen Hotel for this Gala Black Tie event.
