Tipperary senior hurling Assistant Manager Michael Ryan (Upperchurch Drombane) has outlined his charges plans for 2014 with a place in the Allianz National Hurling quarter final a priority for now.

Tipperary kickstart their league campaign on Saturday evening next in Semple Stadium with the visit of Waterford for the game under lights, and while this is a significant date in the calendar, the ultimate goal is the visit of Limerick in June for the Munster championship tie.

In the meantime though, the league offers the chance to explore other avenues , while at the same time being conscious of the fact that qualification for the quarter finals are a necessity.

“We are aiming for a quarter final spot. That’s where we want to be and that’s where we feel we need to be in order to continue our preparations for the championship. We have a lot going on at the present time and we are very happy with the way things are progressing. The league brings a bit more urgency and I think all the players are happy with that. We have undergone a very tough but good pre-season and we can have no complaints with the way things have gone,” Michael said.
