Loughmore Castleiney’s incredible season took on another remarkable dimension when they defeated Clonmel Commercials in the Clean Ireland Recycling County senior football championship semi-final at Cashel on Sunday last.
The dream of an unprecedented double remains very much alive and they will face Aherlow in the county final after the West men edged out JK Brackens in a tight affair at the same venue.
Indeed, it came very close to being an all mid county final, but Tipp star Barry Grogan saved Aherlow’s bacon with three late points to snatch the win.
Before thoughts of a football final enter the county hurling champions minds though, they must return to the small ball with the visit of Limerick champions Na Piarsaigh to Semple Stadium on Sunday afternoon next for the Munster Club championship.
The rollercoaster just continues moving for the Mid men and they seem to relish all these big games with high octane affairs infusing them with energy and spirit. They will need plenty of both on Sunday when they welcome the Shannonsiders - a team well used to playing at this level.
Whether tired and weary limbs will come into the equation remains to be seen. For now though, one thing is certain - all of Tipperary will be behind them in their quest on Sunday.
