Drom And Sars’ Favoured To Progress
ONCE more the county senior hurling finals are defined by the dominance of clubs from the Mid Tipperary division. Indeed, with the bookies favouring Drom & Inch and Thurles Sarsfields to progress to the decider it looks likely that Dan Breen will be finding his way back to the Mid division for the fifth time in six years.
Although Toomevara took the honours in 2008 a distinct pattern has emerged. A pattern which would suggest that Thurles Sarsfields, Drom & Inch and Loughmore-Castleiney are operating at a level noticeably higher than anyone else - Éire Óg Annacarty have arrived at the penultimate stage of the championship on merit, but it’s difficult to see the men from the West upsetting Sarsfields.
On Sunday, October 7th Éire Óg Annacarty will enjoy an opportunity to test the resolve of a Thurles Sarsfields side when they meet in the first semi-final at Semple Stadium, Thurles (throw-in 2pm) while the clash of Drom & Inch and Loughmore-Castleiney (3.30pm) represents the concluding part of a tantalising double header.
Éire Óg Annacarty raised an eyebrow or two with a fine win over Borris-Ileigh before franking their good form with a five-point win (1-15 to 1-10) over North champions Portroe. See this weeks Tipperary Star for full preview.
