Rosegreen’s National School U11 hurling team secured a terrific County Final win against Portroe in Semple Stadium in the Cumann Na Bunscoil competition.

This team played brilliantly on the day and saved their best hurling for the final. There is no doubt that there are some very talented kids within our club which in time will prove beneficial to the club. A special word of thanks to John Lalor, School Principal, and Jerry Quinlan for preparing this team. The winning team is: Ellio Bonnelli, Sean Ryan, Michael Quinlan, Christopher Geraghty, Cian Hayde (Captain), Conor McLoughlin, Jack Ryan, Neill Ryan, Sean Lonergan and Adam Ryan. Congratulations and well done to all concerned.

Junior B Hurling

Our Junior B hurling team collected another three valuable points when defeating Sean Treacys in Tipp Town on Friday night last. This was a well deserved victory.

Rosegreen had the better of the early exchanges with Sean Cormack very accurate on the free taking duties. Michael Mackey scored a good goal and John Paul Peters tacked on 2 points before half time which left Rosegreen 7 points the better. Treacy’s started the second half at lightening pace and had the deficit back to 2 points after the 3rd quarter. Rosegreen rattled the net again thanks to Michael Mackey and shortly after had a rasper come off the crossbar to deny him a hat-trick of goals. Treacy’s plugged away at the lead, however, The Village had enough in the tank to see off the challenge and closed out the game, winning by 6 points in the end. This was a good team performance with Sean Cormack, Michael Mackey, Mark Harnet, Frank Culleton and Trevor Downey to the fore. This leaves the team with one win and one draw so all is to play for in the coming weeks. It is likely that the football team will have a game at the weekend so please check the fixtures in the sports section to confirm times and venue.

All players are asked to attend training on Tuesday and Thursday nights - no excuses! The Club would like to wish Mark Harnet a speedy recovery after he picked up an injury in Friday nights game. Hopefully we will have Mark back in the very near future.

U16 Football

Our U16 Football team were defeated by Durlas Og in the final of the Mid – West competition. This was a game that we should definitely have won however we squandered too many chances in front of goal to leave a difference of 2 points between the teams at the end. Rosegreen went in 2 points up at half time however it was the Thurles boys that took command of the 3rd quarter and got in front by 5 points. Rosegreen had many chances to take their scores but were denied due to good defending by Durlas Og and from terribly poor shooting. We struck the crossbar and uprights and unfortunately luck was not on our side. Congrats to Durlas Og and best wishes to them in the County final. The team was: Thomas Murphy, Michael Moloney, Oisin Ryan, James Walsh, Conor Walsh, Jack Tobin, Diarmuid Quinlan, Mikey Wilson, Kevin Hickey, Nick Ryan, Evan Wallace, Danny Fanning, Colm Hayde, James Ryan, Jonathon Keating and Pairic Ryan.

Rosegreen Juvenile GAA Club are holding their annual Church Gate Collection this weekend. We thank all the volunteers for giving their time and we ask you to support the club in whatever way you can.
