Cappawhite the first winners of new-look Crosco Cup

Following a motion from Arravale Rovers, the Crosco Cup Senior Hurling League competition was changed to a seven-a-side competition this year.

Following a motion from Arravale Rovers, the Crosco Cup Senior Hurling League competition was changed to a seven-a-side competition this year.

Nine teams entered - Aherlow, Cashel KC, Golden/Kilfeacle, Arravale Rovers, Cappawhite, Sean Treacys, Lattin/Cullen, Galtee Rovers and Kickhams.

The games were played midweek.

Cappawhite defeated Arravale Rovers and Golden/Kilfeacle defeated Cashel K.C. in the quarter-finals. Then in the semi-finals Cappawhite beat Golden Kilfeacle 6-11 to 4-9 and Kickhams defeated Sean Treacys 5-9 to 6-2.

In an exciting final in Dundrum on Tuesday evening of last week Cappawhite came out on top against the Kickhams, winning by 6-15 to 2-6 and Board Chairman Roger Kennedy presented the Crosco Cup to the Cappa’ captain Thomas Treacy.

The competition was sponsored by Bertie’s Bar, Dundrum.
