We are eagerly looking forward to our Lady Captain’s outing to the K Club on Tuesday next August 6th. The format is a 4 ball champagne scramble and the first tee off is at 12.00. All details of travel arrangements and timetables are displayed in the clubhouse.
The seniors’ competition takes place on this Thursday August 1st with a draw at 9.30-10.00.

Eleanor Carroll and Mary Comerford were the winners of the 2 ball Rumble on July 23rd with 49 pts. In second place with 44 pts were Margaret Comerford and Hilary Murphy.
Congratulations to Ellen O’Connor who was a very worthy winner of the 12 hole singles competition with 25 pts closely followed by Mairead O’Donnell with 23 pts.
With the course in pristine condition at the moment we had some great scores returned in the weekend open singles competition. Some of our young guns were again to the fore with Rhys Kiely (16) winning with the great score of 47 points and losing three shots in the process. Thomas Morrissey (12) finished second with 43 points and Aaron Kiely (18) a point back in third. Andrew McCormack (2) won the gross with a level par round.
Other to play well but out of the prizes were Gerard Hogan (41pts), Jason Fogarty (41pts), Paul Kelleher (39pts) and Eugene Blanchfield and John O’Brien who both had 38 points.
Gerard Hogan (9) who is playing great golf at the moment was the winner of our weekly Open singles with 45pts. The three qualifiers this week for the final of the Clonmel Oil Open singles in September are Andrew Lawlor, Anthony Norris and James O’Meara.
The dates for both the ladies and gents President’s Prize competitions have been changed from the 17th & 18th of August to the Saturday 31st August & Sunday 1st September for the gent’s competition and to Sunday 1st September for the ladies competition.
The lads are busy at the moment playing the junior matchplay competition. The junior coaching is on Saturdays at 1.00pm. All juniors are welcome to attend and the coaching is by our professional Suzie O’Brien. New members are always welcome.
The winning team in the Rumble played on Wed the 24th of July was Billy Perry, Pat Hickey & Paddy Costello. Please note that the seniors meet every Wednesday morning with a draw for partners at 9.30am and the competition starts at 10.00am sharp. All members over 55 and their friends are welcome.
The Fairways Restaurant at Slievenamon Golf Club is open for group bookings; menus and prices can be tailored to suit your needs. We cater for all occasions such as Birthdays, Parties, Funerals, Conferences and Weddings etc.

Open Week throws up some great results
Last week was Open Week in West Waterford and certainly the West Waterford ladies led the charge in relation to the prizes!
Competition Secretary in top form: Congratulations to our hardworking Competitions Secretary Mary Herlihy who had a great score of 30 points playing off 36 to win the 13 Hole competition.
Tuesday: On Tuesday’s Champagne Scramble it was nice to see the Lady Captain from the Gold Coast Ashling Fennell team up with West Waterford players Joan Ronayne and Jean O Donovan who had 89 points to win the Ladies prize.
Thursday: On Thursday we had another amazing score with the team of Vera Nugent playing off 19, Joan Ronayne playing off 33 and Joan Nugent playing off 36 bringing in a huge score of 71 points some 8 point ahead of the second team comprising Aine Parks playing off 26, Marie T. Curran (31) and Rena Landers playing off 31. In third place with 61 points were Julia Lawlor (35) from the Gold Coast, Marie Hayes (35) also from the Gold Coast and Siobhan McCarthy (36) from West Waterford

Feast of Golf this Bank Holiday Weekend
What a line up of competitions over the August bank holiday weekend stretching from Thursday 1st August to Tuesday 6th August.
On Thursday 1st the gents host their popular golf and a grill only €25 for visitors.
On Friday 1st there is an open gents singles.
Following on Saturday there is an open singles stableford competition for both ladies and gents.
Sunday is an Open Singles Stableford competition for gents which is kindly sponsored by Darragh Connolly, Connolly’s Pharmacy.
On Bank Holiday Monday the club hosts an open gents and ladies singles along with an invitation 9 holes scramble in the evening at 6.30p.m.
Finally on Tuesday 6th August the ladies host and open singles stableford kindly sponsored by Garveys Supervalu. Timesheets available online on www.dungarvangolfclub.com

On Bank holiday Monday 5th August there is a 9 hole scramble for those who enjoy the fun side of golf and those who find 18 holes a bit too much these days. Shotgun start at 6.30 p.m.
