Well done this week to Michael Fitzpatrick and Peter Crosse- now at the veteran stage but as street-wise as ever- who captured the Moloney Foursomes with a surprise win over young guns Adrian O’Donoghue and Trevor Flynn.
With Peter taking a deserved rest, Michael teamed up with Joe Fitzgerald to win the weekend’s Kickham Pairs, kindly sponsored by Frank Spillane.

Among those taking part that year was Rory McIlroy who actually finished runner-up in the Under 15 section. There is already a huge entry for the championship with handicaps as low as +1.
Our Mixed team had a good win over Mitchelstown in the Diageo Mixed but went down narrowly to Cahir Park in the Irish Mixed and we wish the Barton Shield team every success this weekend in Tramore.
Our Lotto continues apace with the jackpot now standing at €2000 still to be won.

Michael Hanton strikes (Clonmel) Oil in some style!
While it wasn’t black gold, the first prize was gold enough for Martin Hanton who had a brilliant 47 points to leave the field in his wake by no less than 8 shots in the Clonmel Oil Open singles sponsored competition which saw 149 entries try for the fantastic prizes. Playing off of 16, Martin hasn’t figured in the results recently but he certainly made up for lost time with this great round of golf. Out in level par for 26 points - two birdies and two bogeys mixed with five pars - he had the luxury of a 4 over back nine for another 21 points for his 47 total. Nearest to Martin was Dermot Maher (4) who had 39 points. Dermot has been playing great consistent golf in recent weeks and on this occasion his second place just pipped Kevin Blanche on the same score but Dermot had the better back nine.
Hole in One
And there was also a bit of added excitement in the competition when Tom O’Donnell holed for an ace on the 3rd hole with a six iron.
We are extremely grateful to Clonmel Oil for their very generous sponsorship.
The Mixed Foursomes had a great weekend in Cahir winning all four matches in the East Munster section of the competition. On Saturday they got the better of Templemore and Slievenamon and on Sunday morning they were too good for Dundrum. They met the home side Cahir Park in the afternoon and even giving way to local knowledge they triumphed in this ‘local derby’ and go on now to play the winners from the Waterford section in the area final on Wednesday or Thursday of next week at a venue to be decided. We wish them the best of luck and we hope to see some good support for the team.
