This is the time of year when the days are beginning to grow and we start to get out for that run in the early evening or we have joined a couch to five km program and are slowly making our way to that elusive prize. If you are thinking of getting fit where will you find help? It’s a no brainer really go to your local Athletics club, they will have helped hundreds of people over the years and will know each step of the way to get you from that couch to the finish line of that 5k or 10k race. You will be in safe hands as they will be qualified coaches in every club and there may even be a dilatation to sort out your eating habits if you need to lose a little weight. Don’t be embarrassed that you won’t be up to a certain standard each person in every club was probably where you are now at one stage or another. The club structure is there to support and help each and every person and the feeling of belonging and being part of a club that is there for everyone is something special. So go ahead and make it happen for you in 2016.
It has been a very busy weekend with the first run in Doneraile park almost 400 runners toed the line and ran the course. In spite of the heavy showers all finished the first 5km of the series, with chip timing everyone got their time and we look forward to the next race in a month’s time.
There were massive numbers in Dungarvan for the John Tracey 10 mile challenge there was also a large crowd in limerick for the Milford hospice run this is a great cause and it is great to see it so well supported on the day.
So looking forward to next Saturday as we are in Coumbaun woods for our Trail run there is a very nice 4 mile run here we will start at the barrier and do a left hand loop and when we come around the hill we will finish back at the barrier.
Directions for Coumbaun are from the village of Angelsborough go up by the community centre past the Church and the school and about a mile up there is an entrance to the woods on your left park here and the run starts at the Barrier. Reg from 9am run starts at 10am refreshments afterwards. There is a €5 reg fee.
