Over the past eight months South Tipperary Girls Under 14 Emerging Talent Programme 2015/2016 began with a month long trial process to decide which players would be selected for the Gaynor Cup Squad for the national competition being held in University Limerick this June Bank Holiday weekend.
Forty girls were selected and divided into two squads to compete in the Viking Cup in Waterford this past April. Both teams were fantastic over the two days and from this 20 players were chosen to represent their county at the prestigious tournament next weekend.
Preparations have been going really well with the squad giving 100% and improving every training session. The draw for the Gaynor Cup sees us down to play North Eastern Counties Friday night, Cork Saturday and Kerry and Midwestern on Sunday with semi finals, finals and play offs to played on the Monday.
We wish all players, coaches Brenton Dewick, Hayley Dewick, Amber Kenny, Aoife Lynch and Head Coach/Manager Stephen Quinn the very best of luck at the Gaynor Cup. A special thank you to David Lenane, FAI Development Officer of South Tipperary who has been a constant presence throughout and has helped the coaches and players immensely and also to Darren Ward who is the man behind the scenes and deserves a lot of credit for year on year improvement in girls soccer .
