Thurles June 11th
For the second week in a row the Fraser Black trained Bandicoot Shane was the star performer at Thurles when clocking 29.03 in the semi final of the Cahill Family Say Thank You stake kindly sponsored by Jackie Cahill TD which has a winners prize of E1500. Breaking smartly from trap two the winner was always in command and opened a good lead on the run to the bend . From here on the issue was never in doubt and he went away to score by three and a half lengths from Talisa with Slaneyside Holby another four lengths back in third place .
Race one A2/a3 570
The opener was won by Michael Dunnes Dublinhill Lad who clocked 31.59 for the 570 yards . here Slaneyside Adie made the early running with the winner taking it up at the bend and going right away to score by a length from Slaneyside with Marwwod Angel another length and a half back in third place .
Race two A3/A4 570
There was an easy winner of the second race on the card when the Laura O Meara owned Chubbys Sarah scored a rrunaway eight lengths win. Although marginally headed from traps the winner was quickly into her stride and showed in front to the bend. From here on the issue was never in doubt and she went right away to win from Miss Mary Lou with Rookery Breeze another six lengths back in third place .
Race three A3/A4 570
Owner Michael Dunne completed a double when taking the third race on the card the semi final of the Pat Dunne Vet A3/A4 570 . Going clear of some first bend crowding Dublinhill Lad went clear on the back straight and crossed the line four lengths in front of Soviet Pearl who was second with Power Of Emma another length back in third place .
Race four A3 525
Another to impress was Tom Lennons Lacken Miley in the fourth race . Firat to show here was Random Angel with Pintos Moment leading to the bend . On the back straight Pintos still showed but the winner was moving into a challenging position and took it up at the top bends to go on aand win by a length to go on and win by a length from a strong finishing Lyons Liberty with Pintos Moment another short head back in third place .
Race five A2 525
The ultra consistent Ascot Buddy made it nineteen career wins when taking the fifth race on the card .After a fairly level break and run to the bend the winner showed in front entering the back straight where he was challenged by Stuckeybawn who ran on gamely but failed to catch the leader by a half length with Knockroe Devil another ten lengths back in third place.
Race six A3 525
The first semi final of the Cahill Family say Thank You was won by the Liam Dwam owned Boherna Meg who came from behind to win in a time of 29.20 . Here Archgrove Millie was the early leader with Village Star taking it up on the back straight . At te third bend the winner moved into a challenging position and took it up pulling away on the home stretch to win by four and a half lengths from Archgrove and Village Star who dead heated from second place.
Race eight A6/A7
Emily /Johns Forever Living 525 final was won by John O Connells Oakvale Curly who came from behind to win . From traps it was Sunset Rumble who got a flier and led to the bend and on the back straight from the winner who moved into a challenging position at the top bends and proved the stronger on the home stretch getting up to win by a half length from Sunset in 29.44 with Emers Twirl another two and a half lengths back in third place .
Race nine A1 /A2 570
Owned b y the Pie In The Sky syndicate and trained by Liam Mckenna ,Tipp The Deise took hte final race on the card in a time of 31.61 for the 570 yards . Slaneyside Trixie was the early leader here with the winner winner taking it up at the bend and going on to hold off the late challenge of Juggernaut Jim by three quarters with Mobile Tracker another length and a half back in third place .
A benefit meeting in aid of Leugh National School drew a large crowd on Friday night where the star of the night was Liam Mckennas Power Of Pride who made a winning debut in the second race on the card . Running from trap three the winner was quickly into his stride and went right away to score by ten lengths from Knockroe Fellow in 29.09 with Cabra Pearl another four lengths back in third place .
Race one A6 525
The opening race on the card resulted in a win for John Richardsons Zulu Excel who showed in front on the back straight and went on to hold off the late challenge of Astons Rio who was second with Soweheard another three and a half lengths back in third place in a time of 29.83.
Race three S5/A6 330
Michelle Phelans Code Rouge took the sprint in a time of 18.34 when taking over from early leader Donegal Hondo at the bend and pulling away to win by two and a half lengths from Equation Of Time with Heroic Man another head back in third place .
Race four a4/A5 525
Matt Murphys Memphis Morning took the fourth race in 29.52 . Making all the running the winner led on the back straight from Sing Song .Maintaining a strong gallop to the line the winner scored by four and a half lengths from Active Rebel with Ballykildea Elm another three quarters back in third place .
Race five A7/A8 525
Caran Hehirs Got Your Measure trained by Derek Kehoe was impressive when clocking 29.53 in the fifth race on the card . This February puppy went clear on the rails at the bend and from here on was never passed going right away to win by six lengths from Carneys Ester with Code Reason another length and a half back in third place .
Race six A5/A6 525
Clonmore Jack was the early leader in the sixth race and lled to the last bend where Patterdale Lucas took it up and led turning for home. On the home run Dick Purcells Clonora Kate came with a late run and got up to score by a neck from Patterdale iin 30.17 with Clonmore Jack another half length back in third place .
Race seven S3/S4 525
The second sprint on the card was won by Jim Moloneys North Bay Junior who clocked 18.07 . From traps it was Local Warrior who led with Emmas Rocket showing in front on the run to the bend. At the top bends the winner showed in front and went away to win by two and a half lengths from Emmas Rocket with Cabra Charmer another two lengths back in third place .
Race eight A4 /A5 525
Carriglad Mick owned by the One Or Six syndicate took the eighth race in a time of 29.68 . Taking it up at the bend from early leader Davys Crockett ,Carriglad was never headed from here on and went on to win by a length and a half from Ascot Davy with Davys Crockett another two lengths back in third place .
Race nine A4 570
The ninth race was won by Andrew Murrays Gortkrlly Iggy who clocked 32.02 from the 570 yards. Coming through on the home stretch the winner crossed the line three quarters clear of Slaneyside Zaoa with Jampot Jim another three and a half lengths back in third place .
Race ten A3/A4 525
The final race on the card resulted in a win for Ciaran Flanagans Woodenstown Hen who came from behind . Here Foulkscourt Kid made the early running with On Budget taking it up at the bend and leading to the home stretch where the winner proved the stronger and got up to win by a half length from On Budget in 29.62 with Buckfast Ger another two lengths back in third place .
Run Of The week
Bandicoot Shane was the most impressive performer last weekend and will start a warm favourite to land the final of the Cahill Family Says Thank You stake .
