Mooreabbey Milers A.C.

Family fun was to the fore for the Mooreabbey Milers last weekend. The club took the opportunity of a quiet weekend on the racing front to enjoy some quality family time. The club organised an event called Mooreabbey's Fittest Team for club members and their families to enjoy last Saturday 25th in Galbally.

Six teams of adults and children from the age of two upwards competed against each other in classic games such as the spud and spoon race, sack race and tug of war as well as many other events. Children enjoyed seeing their parents crawling under nets and attempting to skip as they pretended not to be competitive! The emphasis was on having fun and exercising at the same time in the fresh air among friends. In the end it was a draw between two teams at the top. The result didn't matter as everyone had enjoyed the event greatly and agreed that it should become an annual event. Later that evening the families gathered at Tom and Tricha Blackburn's house for a well earned BBQ and chat. The club would like tho thank all the organisers for all the work they put in to making this a thoroughly enjoyable family fun day for the Mooreabbey Milers.

Stuart Moloney ran a fine time of 4.06 in his heat of the 1,500m in the Glo Health Senior Track and Field event last Saturday. Well done Stuart.
