Four FAI Cup ties down for decision in Tipperary this weekend

The FAI Junior Cup takes centre stage on the local soccer scene this weekend with four ties down for decision. The winners of each tie will go forward to the Open Draw stage of the competition.

First up is the clash on Saturday night between St. Michael’s of Tipperary Town and Kilsheelan which goes ahead at Cooke Park in Tipperary. The twice-champions of this competition will be the hottest of favourites to progress under the floodlights.

On Sunday the remaining three games will be decided. Clonmel Celtic will entertain Bansha at the By-Pass in Clonmel with an 11 am kick-off. The only North Tipp v South Tipp fixture will be in Thurles where TSDL Premier League side Tipperary Town will travel to take on Thurles Town. Fellow Thurles side Peake Villa who operate in the TSDL will play hosts to Division 2 side Cullen/Lattin at 2 pm.

The expectations therefore is that St. Michael’s, Clonmel Celtic and Peake Villa will all progress, while Tipperary Town will be hoping to making it a clean sweep for the TSDL sides with victory in the Cathedral Town.
