Rachael Blackmore bidding to become the first female jockey to win the Grand National.
Tipperary’s Rachael Blackmore is one of just three lady jockeys riding in Saturday’s Aintree Grand National.
She’s aboard Alpha des Obeaux trained by Mouse Morris at his Everardsgrange, Fethard stables.
Morris will be bidding for his second National win in three years following the success of Rule the World in 2016.
Meanwhile Blackmore will be biddinig to become the first female jockey to win the world’s most famous race.
The former Conditional champion, Blackmore is having another wonderful season and a ride in the National is another major milestone.
It’s not only her first time to ride in the National but her first time to visit Aintree.
To take home the top prize on the Michael O’Leary-owned Alpha Des Obeaux would be a dream come true for the Killenaule jockey.
Katie Walsh, sister of Ruby, is one of the other lady jockeys taking on the Aintree fences in Saturday’s big race.
