Significant date changes made for the concluding stages of the Tipperary hurling and football championships

A number of significant changes have been made to the fixtures plan by the County Competitions Control Committee (CCC) for the concluding stages of the Tipperary Water sponsored senior hurling, senior football, intermediate hurling and intermediate football championships.

The CCC - led by chairman Joe Kennedy and secretary Tom Maher - made it clear earlier this season that the master plan dates could be brought forward based on the performance of the Tipperary inter-county teams in their respective championships.

SENIOR HURLING

The county senior hurling championship quarter-finals are now planned for the week-ending September 23rd; the semi-finals for the week-ending October 7th and the final for the week-ending October 21st.

And, these changes are likely to complicate the preparations of Thurles Sarsfields, Drom & Inch and Upperchurch-Drombane who are currently gearing themselves up for a three-way play-off.

On Tuesday, September 11th Drom & Inch will take on Upperchurch-Drombane in Templetuohy (8pm), Holycross then hosts the meeting of the winner of that clash with Thurles Sarsfields on Sunday, September 16th (5pm) while the loser of the opening game will collide with Thurles Sarsfields on Wednesday, September 19th in Templetuohy (8pm).

Killenaule, as South champions, have also qualified for a preliminary quarter-final which will need to be played in the coming weeks - the result of this Sunday's Centenary Agri Mid Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship final will have a bearing on the draw for the preliminary quarter-final(s).

It is understood that the concluding stages of the Séamus Ó Riain Cup (Roinn II of the Tipperary Water County Senior Hurling Championship) will be run in tandem with the concluding stages of the county senior hurling championship.

Originally the county senior hurling quarter-finals were planned for the week-ending October 7th, the semi-finals for the week-ending October 14th and the final for the week-ending October 28th.

INTERMEDIATE HURLING

The county intermediate hurling championship quarter-finals are planned for the week-ending September 23rd, semi-finals for the week-ending September 30th and the final for the week-ending October 14th.

SENIOR & INTERMEDIATE FOOTBALL

The county senior and intermediate football championship quarter-finals are planned for the week-ending September 30th, semi-finals for the week-ending October 14th and the final for the week-ending October 28th.
