On Wednesday night Thurles Sarsfields earned a highly-impressive two-point win (1-18 to 1-16) over a fancied Moyne-Templetuohy team in the preliminary quarter-finals of the Tipperary Water County Intermediate Hurling Championship. Meanwhile Borrisokane enjoyed a double-score victory (1-11 to 0-7) over the 2017 county junior A champions Ballybacon-Grange. So, the full quarter-final line-up is now confirmed.
As a result North champions Borrisokane will now face divisional rivals Moneygall in the quarter-finals of the Tipperary Water County Intermediate Hurling Championship on Sunday, September 16th at 5pm in Templederry.
In the remaining quarter-finals on Sunday, September 16th Golden-Kilfeacle will take on Thurles Sarsfields in Dundrum at 12 noon and Drom & Inch will face Shannon Rovers in Roscrea (12 noon) while on Saturday, September 15th Cashel King Cormacs and Ballinahinch meet in their respective quarter-final at Holycross (2.15pm)
Last weekend Ballinahinch and Shannon Rovers enjoyed narrow wins in their respective preliminary quarter-finals - Ballinahinch saw off the challenge of West champions Seán Treacy’s (2-16 to 0-21) while Shannon Rovers accounted for Gortnahoe-Glengoole (0-16 to 1-11).
The semi-finals of the competition are scheduled to take place on the week-ending September 30th and the final on the week-ending October 14th.
