Tipperary County GAA Board has this evening ratified Portoe man Liam Sheedy as the new Manager of the Tipperary senior hurling team for a three year term.

Sheedy, who guided Tipperary to All-Ireland victory back in 2010 was ratified by the board members at a packed gathering in Thurles Sarsfields GAA clubhouse having been forward by the special five man committee tasked with responsibility of replacing Michael Ryan and his management team which resigned a few weeks ago.

While Sheedy had been surprisingly mooted in the press as a late entrant to the race to be Manager, the news resulted in much excitement throughout the county, and especially amongst members of the squad. His ratification was no surprise when it was put to the Board by Chairman John Devane (Boherlahan Dualla).

Sheedy's backroom team, is still being finalised at this stage and an announcement will be made in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Tipperary football Manager Liam Kearns has been ratified for another year with his backroom team to be announced at a later stage also.
