Sara Finnane in action against Laurel Hill in Rockwell's win over Laurel Hill
Rockwell College Junior Hockey girls have got off to a blistering start in their first venture into Munster ‘A’ hockey.
Having won the Munster 'B' League last year, Rockwell were promoted to the A division and were expected to struggle there.
In their first match against St. Angela’s of Cork, the Rockwell girls came out on top by a single goal following a ding dong battle.Sara Finnane scored the winning goal.
The second round of the league was equally intense against the more experienced Laurel Hill of Limerick who have an excellent record in this competition.
Kate Flannery in action against Laurel Hill.
Again this was a tight affair and Caoimhe O’Connor scored a stunning goal to shock their much vaunted opponents.
This is remarkable for a school with fewer girl students than their opponents, and they have now shown their ability to mix it with the best.
