A very special night was held during the week of Fleadh Cheoil Thiobraid Árann 2018, on Thursday the 17th of May at the Oíche na Gradaim the recipients of this very special award were revealed and it is without a doubt that Joe and Vourneen Barry are the worthy recipients.

In the words of his daughter Bríd "Joe's passion for music is how he lives, communicates, celebrates, mourns and commemorates." Be it playing pipes at a local session, parading through a city across the world or a tune in the house, Joe and Vourneen give it everything and constantly encourage and support each other, their family and the community of pipers, drummers and all musicians around them.
